Foreword from Dr. Mehrunnisa Taj – Chairman, AKHB for USA 2023-2027

Over the past several years, AKHB USA has remained committed to a simple but important goal: helping our Jamat live healthier lives through prevention, education, early intervention, and access to quality care.

Our work spans cardiovascular health, cancer prevention, healthy lifestyles, physical activity, mental health, and access to care. Through initiatives such as Save-A-Heart, Pink Shield, Second Opinion Services, Move2Bfit, and our mental health and resilience programs, we have worked to help our Jamat make healthier choices, stay informed and feel supported throughout their health journey.

At the heart of this work is our remarkable network of Ismaili health professionals. Their generosity, expertise and spirit of service allow us to support the Jamat across the United States while building meaningful connections globally. This spirit was especially evident at the 2026 Global Ismaili Health Professionals Conference (GIHPC), where nearly 800 health professionals and leaders came together to learn, connect and strengthen partnerships for the future.

None of this would be possible without our dedicated volunteers, health professionals, institutional partners and leadership, and most importantly, the trust and engagement of the Jamat. I am deeply grateful to each of you.

As we look ahead, I hope this website will be a trusted resource for you and your family; to learn, make informed choices, and find support when you need it.

Together, we can continue building a healthier, more informed, resilient and connected Jamat.

With warmest regards,

Mehrunnissa Taj, DNP, MS, APN, AOCNP®
Chair, Aga Khan Health Board for the United States of America
Oncology Clinical Scientist | Adjunct Faculty, Johns Hopkins University

ACA Open Enrollment is Ongoing!

The ACA features federally regulated and subsidized health plans, enabling millions of Americans to afford healthcare. During the Open Enrollment period or after a qualifying life event, individuals can explore a variety of health plans suited to their needs. The ACA streamlines this process by providing a marketplace where you can compare options based on your household size, income, and location, helping you select a plan that meets your budget and health requirements.
