COVID-19

What is COVID-19?

The novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 is a viral respiratory illness that has spread internationally, including the United States. The Aga Khan Health Board continues to work with infectious disease experts to monitor the situation closely and provide guidance to the community as necessary.  As the pandemic transitions to endemic, it becomes all the more important that we protect ourselves through common sense measures such as hand washing and COVID-19 vaccinations as we return to a new normal.

COVID-19 Vaccination

COVID-19 vaccination significantly lowers your risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death if you get infected. Compared to people who are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations, unvaccinated people are more likely to get COVID-19, much more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19, and much more likely to die from COVID-19. COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. For the best protection, everyone 5 years and older is recommended to stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines, which includes getting boosters when eligible.
