4 key points to know about the COVID-19 vaccine: The FDA has currently approved three vaccines: Pfizer, Moderna and Janssen Both vaccines have mRNA-based technology, while the Janssen vaccine has an inactivated adenovirus, which trains your body to recognize the virus if you are ever exposed to it Clinical trials have shown all three to be 100% effective at preventing hospitalizations and death Side effects are mild and generally include fever, fatigue, headaches, body aches and pain at the injection site
